What is the Exploratorium?
The Exploratorium is The Yard's outdoor place space, designed for curious children who love to get hands on. With water, mud, sand loose parts and real tools, children can follow their interests, test ideas, take risks and see what happens next.
Every session looks different because the play is led by the children, not the activity.

There's no right way to play here.
Children Lead the way.​
They might build something, pull something apart, test an idea, collaborate with another child, change direction completely or spend the whole session absorbed in one thing.

Good to know before you come
You stay
Adults remain with their children.
Dress for mess
Water, mud and paint are all possibilities. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty.
Building Zone
Opens 30 minutes after the session begins. Eye protection is provided, along with a safety talk before children begin.
From walking
Exploratorium from walking to 9 yrs.
Under 2s are $5 with a paying sibling.

Children move freely
between experiences.
Outdoor experience
Sessions run outdoors and continue in most weather.
