What is the Makery?
The Makery is The Yard’s indoor creative space, a place for children who love to make, build, experiment and create.

The Makery is made up of three different spaces: the Creative Studio, Tool Shed and Splatter Room, each offering a different kind of making experience and running as its own session.
​
Children can explore interesting materials, real tools and creative techniques while following their own ideas. There’s no finished example to copy, the making is led by the child.

There's no right way to make here.
Children Lead the way.​
They might paint, build, cut, glue, experiment with materials, create something from their imagination, collaborate with another child, change direction completely or spend the whole session absorbed in one thing.

Good to know before you come
You stay
Adults remain with their children.
Dress for mess
Paint, glue and materials are all possibilities. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty.
Real tools
Different tools and materials are available depending on the session. Tool Shed includes real woodworking tools.

Makery sessions are generally designed for makers aged 3+.
