Open Makery - Craft room
Self-directed creative making with curated materials and gentle facilitation.
Service Description
Open Makery is a relaxed, indoor creative session where children are free to design, build, and create using a wide range of curated materials and tools. There is no set project and no step-by-step instruction. Children decide what they want to make, how they want to approach it, and when they feel finished. Some arrive with a clear plan, while others explore materials until an idea emerges. The Makery is set up intentionally to support creative confidence rather than outcomes. Materials are chosen for how they can be used, combined, and adapted — not for producing identical results. Facilitators are present to: • ensure safety • support tool use where needed • ask thoughtful questions • help children problem-solve Open Makery is ideal for children who: • enjoy working at their own pace • like experimenting and trying ideas • prefer choice over instruction • want a calm, creative environment This session works well as an introduction to The Yard, or as a regular creative outlet for children who thrive with autonomy. Open Makery is not a craft class — it is a space for thinking, experimenting, and making decisions through materials.
