Makery Skill Sessions
Making skills explored through child-led design and problem-solving.
Service Description
Makery Skill Sessions are designed for children who enjoy learning how things work and developing real making skills — without being told what to make. Each session focuses on one core making skill, such as using tools, joining materials, designing structures, or turning ideas into three-dimensional forms. Children are introduced to the skill, then apply it in their own way through a project they design themselves. There are no templates and no identical outcomes. The emphasis is on understanding, experimenting, and refining ideas rather than finishing something that looks a certain way. These sessions support: • practical tool confidence • design thinking • spatial awareness • persistence and iteration • creative independence Group sizes are intentionally small so children can work safely, receive support when needed, and stay deeply engaged. Makery Skill Sessions suit children who: • enjoy building and problem-solving • like learning new techniques • want more depth than open-ended play alone • are ready to work with increasing independence Sessions are booked individually rather than as a term program, allowing families flexibility while maintaining consistency and quality.
